“Shirley Anne Guthrie, 81, passed away peacefully at her home in Beatty, Nevada on the afternoon of Sunday, December 1st. She was born in Hermosa Beach, California on June 28th, 1943 to David and Meta Erickson.
Shirley grew up in Oregon on the family farm. One of her passions was riding horses and competing in 4H. She once competed in the dairy farmers association pageant in high school but failed to obtain the title because she didn't drink her milk at the banquet.
She was survived by her children, Julia, Brian, Corey and Cayce, as well as her siblings Sharon, Sally, Tom and Tim. She was also blessed with 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Allen Guthrie. They lived in Beatty, Nevada from the time they were married in 1988 and never left.
Shirley worked many jobs in Beatty to include the local casino, hardware store and Rebel gas station. After retiring, Shirley loved to stay at home, tool around in her garden and spoil her dogs, to include Winston, Carley, and Hank.
