Helen Elizabeth Lewis Greenleaf, 85, a Pahrump, NV resident since 1980, passed away Oct. 4, 2021 in Las Vegas, NV, from heart and kidney disease. She was loved by all she ever met, and will be truly missed.
Helen was born Jan. 24, 1936, in Heber City, UT, to Samuel LeRoy Lewis and Thelma Giles. She attended Garfield Elementary, Irving Jr. High and East High School, all in Salt Lake City.
She resided and worked in Salt Lake City, Tacoma, WA and Pahrump, NV. Her working career included service in the credit union, secretarial, food service and maintenance industries. Helen's hobby for many years was raising and showing purebred Siberian Huskies.
She was an active member of the Pahrump Moose Lodge for 39 years. Helen served on every committee and held many leadership positions in the Women of the Moose, including Sr. Regent and Star Recorder. She was especially fond of programs for homeless children and teens, the children at Moosehart, Illinois, orientation activities for new members, and cooking hundreds of meals in the Moose kitchen. She was also involved with the Pahrump Relay for Life for several years.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, John W. Taylor, and her second husband, Clarence l. (Cal) Greenleaf. She is survived by her one sibling, sister Ruth Ann White, Arnold, CA, two nephews and one niece, two step-nephews, several great nieces and nephews; step daughters Kay Decker, Sturgis, SD; Rachel Akins, Farmington, NM; Audrey Eby, Overton , NE; Amy Reed, S. Sioux City, NE; stepson Clarence I. Greenleaf, Jr., Sioux City, IA; step grandson, Lee Greenleaf, Hastings, NE; as well as many more step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held Dec. 4, 2021, 2 p.m., at the Pahrump Moose Lodge, 1100 E. 2nd St., Pahrump, NV 89048. In lieu of flowers, Helen requests donations to the Pahrump Women of the Moose for their numerous charity programs.
