Earl was born on January 7, 1922 in Napavine, Washington. He worked for Boeing Aircraft in 1941 and was drafted in 1943 into the US Army.
He served the US Army Air Corps and transferred in the infantry where he saw action in the Pacific theater in WWII. His first assignment was to secure one of the islands in the Philippines. While he was in the Philippines, his division was sent directly to Hiroshima soon after the surrender of Japan. He also worked as a clerk for the United States Postal Service until he retired in 1979. People always said, “Be good, Earl” wherever he went. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
