Glenda Sue Harvey

Glenda Sue Fisher Harvey aged 80, a longtime resident of Pahrump, NV began her next journey on November 23, 2022. Her rendezvous with the future begins with the reunification of her family members who have preceded her in death: Her father Opal William Fisher, her mother Iona B. Mason (Nanny), stepfather Harrison Walter Mason, brothers Connis Harold Fisher and his wife Geneva, Joyce Ray Fisher, and her beloved sister Darlene Opal Fisher Short, and her husband Alvin. Born in Wichita Falls, Texas, returned to the stars shining over Shadow Mountain.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Bobby Harvey after 49 years of marriage, along with her children Karen Mellos and her husband Angelo, her son Mason Rollo and his wife Maria. Her grandchildren include Jennifer Potter, Miranda Mellos and Van Mellos. Other loved family members include her nephews Russell Short and Raymond Fisher, her sister-in-law Patsy Fisher and great-niece Jesseka Short. Her closest friends will know who they are. She’d want them to know they were integral to her life and deeply loved.

She had a variety of jobs in food services such as waitress, cook, barmaid, and carhop. Whether employed as a children’s day care provider or as an auto parts cleaner, she thrived at work. Images of her as a young adult riding her gleaming candy-apple red Yamaha emerge. Her uniform of men’s shirts and black steel toed shoes were worn during her workdays at Bell Helicopter. In stark contrast, years later she could be seen in white go-go boots and a striking outfit at the time known as hot pants that she sometimes wore when she worked as a barmaid. Later, when she became the business owner of Cherokee Parts Service Company, she was very proud of her success.

Glenda was a devoted wife, as well as a stalwart homeowner busy with home improvements. She spent the last third of her life transitioning from working at a local casino, where she got her exercise walking five miles a day, to taking life at a more relaxed pace. She enjoyed time with her dogs through the years as if they were her other children. She took up painting, creating paintings and a small collection of miniature work on eggshells. While participating in a local writing club she blossomed, loved learning, enjoyed meeting new people, and developed devoted friendships. She embraced her writing and was supported by her wonderful mentoring audience who appreciated her story telling talent. Despite not knowing how to type, she was prolific and experienced a deep sense of accomplishment from being able to print her stories.

Glenda Sue was a creative humble soul, always putting others before herself. She was admired and loved by her friends who bid her bon voyage with zest, hugs, and blessings. Her calm nature and adventurous spirit will be remembered and missed. She dabbled in genealogy, loved gardening, flowers and ice-cream floats. She was of late enthralled with RV travel on YouTube and hoped to hit the road again one day soon. If you’d like to honor her memory, she would be glad to know you”ve packed up your car to take a road trip while you still can.
