“Beloved Husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, friend …
Danny Phillip Egelston aka Old Man Dan aka Darlin Dan was 70 years young at the time of his passing at home, with his wife and companion dog Suki at his bedside on December 9th, 2021 in Pahrump, Nevada. He endured a long and courageous battle with Lewy Boy Dementia and is now at rest.
Danny was born prematurely, one of the first babies in Utah to survive using incubator technology at the
time. His parents preceeded him in death, Thomas Phillip Egelston and Ida Colleen Mathis Egelston. He was the oldest of his siblings: sister Pamela Jean Griffin (Joe), brother Allen Egelston (Sharon).
He graduated high school in California, where he frequently skipped class to enjoy body surfing. He went on to attend college earning his Associates Degree in accounting. Married early in life to Tova Schaeffer (divorced), and had 4 children. Later married Marcia Clements (deceased) and had a son and daughter. In spring of 2012, married Pamela Bailey whom he had known nearly 40 years. Dan was a hard-working
man with an amazing work ethic. He had several careers from chef, truck driver, security, and retired from Comcast after 20 years, only after his diagnoses in 2019. Although as his illness progressed, he was always at work, pulling orders and helping others at Comcast. Shortly after retirement, he relocated to a warmer climate in Nevada.
Anyone that knew Danny, also knew how much he loved his family, his pets, the Raiders, and Harley Davidson Motorcycles. He went on many rides including a trip to Sturgis.
He was unselfish, caring and generous, always putting others first. He is survived by a large blended family … his wife, Pamela Bailey, his children Anna Armenta, (Mark), Leslie Egelston, Michelle Suarez, (Vasilios), Danny Egelston Jr., Clint Egelston (Shiloh), Crystal Wylie, (Mike). Step children Cynthia Beard, (Art), Thomas Egelston, (Camille), Kathrine Bailey, Jeffery Egelston, (Amber). Numerous grand and great
grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins ….
A celebration of life will be held this spring in Vernal Utah, where his ashes will be placed next to his beloved grandmother Pearl and mother Coleene. Please feel free to contact Pamela Bailey at baileyranchl@gmail.com for specific time and place. Details will also be posted to his FB page when available.
Many thanks go out to his hospice care givers – Deanna … your support and friendship truly helped him through this journey with dignity, care, and compassion.
Till we meet again”
